This activity (Fruits day) was well celebrated in partnership with Delhi public school, India. The first step taken towards working together was to outline and share the collaboration objectives as far as the activities concerned which included clear definition of the aims to be achieved through the partnership. The element of the centre of the objective was how to ensure the intake of fruits by students promote well-being and their mental health. In biology, balanced diet is an element under nutrition which talks about the importance of fruits intake in promoting well-being and mental health.

The next step taken was to develop a collaborative plan in order to create a detailed plan outlining roles, responsibilities, timelines and resources needed for collaboration which included activities such as how to source the fruits from the local markets, the hygiene process (washing and slicing the fruits) and presentation on the benefits associated with consumption of different types of fruits. Furthermore, we engaged in the monitoring and evaluation of progress made from both ends by regularly assessing the progress of partnership initiatives, gathering feedback from participants and making adjustments as needed to ensure a successful and sustainable partnership.

In addition, evidences of the activities (video on power point presentation on the benefits of fruit consumption, photographs on the purchase of the fruits from a local market and the hygiene procedures of handling the fruits) was shared by both partner schools which actually show cased the impacts of the partnership by instigating learning new things (types of fruits and benefits) Skill development (how to negotiate the prices of fruits in the look on my kids among orders).

My favorite part of this activity was certainly the hygienic practice of washing fruits before consumption. This practice gives the consumer a safe feeling while eating and also being aware of the benefits of consuming fruits.

I have learnt that the prices of fruits are not really expensive and the benefits associated with the consumption of fruits are quite enormous such as boosting immune system and fostering students’ academic performance in school.

There were some difficulties in sourcing for some certain fruits in the local market.

If this activity is ever done again, I would like to enlighten the society on the various benefits associated with the consumption of fruits.

YEAR GROUP: 10 – 13

DATE: 14 – 02 – 2024

This activity contributed not only to the immediate health of pupils but also their education at achievements, social interactions and long term wellbeing.

This activity contributed to the promotion of healthy habits such as regular handwashing, balanced nutrition and physical activity which has now become lifelong practices for staff involved.

This activity contributed to a healthier school population by reducing administrative efforts related to managing sick students and ensuring consistent attendance and academically successful school environment

The fruit day activity was an eye opener that that highly beneficial fruits for wellbeing and metal health can be bought with little amount of money. however, a schedule for periodic health check-ups for students to detect and address health issues early on should be initiated

Students were able to understand the impact of including fruits in their diet and also understand the nutritional benefits of each fruits and the vital role the fruits play in their body system.

It has given more points to be added in my research on how fruits can prevent illness and improve mental health.

It has helped the school to know the impact the fruits play in the student’s well-being and their nutritional benefits thereby including it in their lunch.

More fruits should be included especially the tropical ones, and those fruits they are not familiar with. It will give them the idea of varieties available in the locality.

The activity has really exposed my child to the importance of fruits consumption and how it contributes to individuals’ well-being and mental health.

This activity had made me to realise that fruits are not that expensive and fruits such as orange, pineapple and watermelon contribute immensely in promoting one’s mental health and well-being

The activity can be improved next time by creating more awareness, perhaps by inviting media personnel so that the message can be spread to a larger percentage of people in the society

The activity was highly impactful and earnestly looking forward to the implementation of similar activity in the nearest future.
